Fully accredited by the corresponding U.S. supervisory academic institution and by the relevant U.S. professional bodies

Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus (SLU-Madrid), as an academic unit of Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A., is accredited though the University's accrediting body, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Institutional Actions Council (IAC) of the HLC voted to continue the accreditation of Saint Louis University in 2012, with the next comprehensive evaluation set for 2021-22. Saint Louis University has been continuously accredited since 1916.

In addition, the University attains accreditation from appropriate professional bodies for specific programs; for example, the John Cook School of Business, through which the Madrid Campus offers its International Business programs, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

SLU-Madrid has official recognition and authorization to operate as a U.S. institution in Spain, the first U.S. university to achieve this status. In 1996, the Comunidad de Madrid Regional Government authorized Saint Louis University in Spain, also known as Saint Louis Madrid Campus, as a center of post-secondary education, granting it permission to deliver U.S. degree programs in Madrid (Orden 1999/96 BOCM 23.10.96). On an annual basis, the Madrid Campus submits a report on enrollment, changes in programs, faculty, financial accounting, etc. to the regional government.
