- Degrees & Programs
Assessment at Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus involves an on-going process of measuring attainment of student learning outcomes (SLOs) by:
- collecting information about SLOs at the individual, program and degree levels;
- extracting information about SLO attainment through multiple types of evidence (exams, papers, portfolios, reports, interviews, etc.);
- evaluating the impact of instruction, resources and activities on SLOs;
- making the necessary adjustments based on the above information.
SLU-Madrid is committed to excellent and innovative educational practices. In order to maintain quality academic offerings and to conform to relevant accreditation requirements, we regularly assess our teaching, services, and programs for evidence of student learning outcomes achievement. For this purpose we keep on file representative examples of student work from all courses and programs such as: assignments, papers, exams, portfolios, and results from student surveys, focus groups, and reflexive exercises.

University-wide Undergraduate Student Learning Outcomes
Framed by our institutional Mission and the Five Dimensions of Saint Louis University Experience, SLU's University-wide undergraduate-student learning outcomes define the essential educational expectations for all graduates, regardless of major. Read more about the steps the University is taking to define, measure, and advance quality in academic affairs here.
In addition, the President Pestello has charged a joint committee, formed by Provost Nancy Brickhouse and the SLU-St. Louis Faculty Senate, to develop university-wide learning outcomes suitable to guide the next steps in developing a university-wide core curriculum and shared undergraduate experience at SLU. This committee is currently gathering input from SLU's colleges and schools.
