Katherine Espinosa

The Emerging Leader Award is presented to those alumni who have made a significant impact in their profession or community at large since graduation. This award honors alumni who graduated from 2011 to 2021.

Katherine Espinosa is a pillar of the Saint Louis University — Madrid community, having emceed both the alumni awards and the convocation ceremony on numerous occasions. She is dedicated to helping individuals improve their critical thinking and communication skills and raise their cultural awareness of themselves and others. She obtained her B.A. in Spanish on our campus in 2013 and went on to earn a Masters in Applied Linguistics from the Universidad Autónoma, as well as EFL and Professional Translation Certifications.

Espinosa has worked in the communications industry for over a decade: she currently serves as a Communication and Language Arts teacher at Saint Charles College, as a public speaking and intercultural communication trainer, as co-founder of the Intercultural Pro Network, and as the vice president and senior program developer for Leadership for Leaders. 

Espinosa is an award-winning public speaker: She was the national champion of the Toastmasters Public Speaking Contest in 2020, the regional champion of Toastmasters Evaluation Contest in 2019, and served as vice president of mentorship at the Standing Ovation Toastmasters Club in 2019 and 2020.

Katherine's skills in intercultural communication, translation, bilingual teaching and program development have shaped her into the leader she is today.
