Fourth of July Goes Global at SLU-Madrid
Nothing beats a traditional summer barbecue for Americans abroad on the 4th of July. Dozens of American faculty, staff and students joined peers from Algeria, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Morocco, the Philippines, Romania, Spain, Syria and other countries worldwide for this year's annual Fourth of July Barbecue. The celebration was catered by SLU-Madrid´s dining services, Unity by Sodexo, and featured traditional all-American summer fare: hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, and for dessert, a build-your-own ice-cream sundae bar.
"I felt like I was able to share my holiday with my non-American friends," commented Anna Bohren, a SLU-Madrid senior who is originally from Wyoming. "It was fun being able to celebrate a national holiday across the sea."
