Economics Programs at SLU-Madrid

"Economics is not just about money. More broadly it gives you a framework to understand how the world works - socially, politically and financially. Students are generally amazed to learn that, instead of being a scary subject only of use to the bankers of the future, economics gives them an alternative view of the world's problems and potentials."

Dr. David Howden
Program Director, Business and Economics

Degrees Offered:

  • B.A. in Economics from the College of Arts and Sciences (Students can complete all four years - 120 credits - at the Madrid Campus).
The B.A. degree provides rigor and analytical training in economics, while allowing students to combine it with a more traditional and broad-based liberal arts background. (Some, for example, might choose to do a minor in Ibero-American studies; others will do a minor - or a second major - in mathematics).

  • B.S. in Business Administration with an Economics concentration from the John Cook School of Business.
The B.S. degree from the John Cook School of Business includes a curriculum of core business subjects (accounting, finance, marketing, management, and international business). It is designed for business students looking for a concentration oriented more toward liberal arts.
