Micah Students Work Alongside Shaw Residents for Operation Brightside

On Saturday, April 9, students participating in the Micah Program joined neighbors from the 4000 block of Botanical Avenue to clean alleys, beautify yards and prepare a community garden for the growing season.

Each spring, Micah students spend a day working alongside Shaw neighborhood residents for Operation Brightside.

In addition to the outside chores, the neighbors prepared breakfast for the students, talked about the history of the Shaw neighborhood and shared with the students about living in the inner-city.

NOTE: An earlier version of this story stated that 4,000 neighbors participated. In fact, it was a much smaller group of neighbors, who were from the 4000 block of Botanical Avenue. We apologize for any confusion.
