Message to the SLU Community

Dear members of the SLU community,

Today will be a difficult day at Saint Louis University. I want to reassure you that we remain deeply committed to treating those who will leave our University with compassion, dignity and respect.

Here at SLU, we view one another not just for the contributions that we have made to our University and its mission, but also as whole persons who live in solidarity with others, sharing hopes, fears and needs.

As a community of faith, we can call to prayer in solidarity with one another. This week, we will hold three prayer services to ask God to be with us and to give us strength. All SLU staff, faculty, clinicians, and students are invited and encouraged to take part in the prayer services.

The first prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. today in St. Francis Xavier College Church. It will be followed by a fellowship gathering that begins at 5 p.m. in the church’s lower ballroom.

There will also be two outdoor prayer services later this week. They will be held as follows:

  • Wednesday: Noon-12:30 p.m. outside of the Health Sciences Education Union on the south campus. (Rain location is Pitlyk Auditorium C in the Learning Resources Center.)
  • Friday: Noon-12:30 p.m. near the St. Ignatius statue behind DuBourg Hall on the north campus. (Rain location is the Sinquefield Stateroom on the fourth floor of DuBourg.)

We hope you can join us for these gatherings, and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers today and all of the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D.
President
