Return to Oshkosh
Faculty and staff from SLU’s Parks College exhibited at EAA AirVenture 2021 from July 26 - August 1.
After EAA AirVenture 2020 was moved to a virtual event last summer because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Parks College returned to Oshkosh, WI this summer to exhibit in-person for AirVenture 2021. The annual event, a weeklong air show and celebration of aviation, brought together industry professionals, enthusiasts, students and the general public at Wittman Regional Airport. Many were happy to gather and celebrate all the opportunities within and accomplishments of the aviation industry.
Throughout the week, Parks College reps met with alumni, industry partners, current students, and prospective students and families. The event is an opportunity for Parks alumni to reconnect with the College, for industry partners to meet and mingle and for prospective students to learn more about Parks College academic programs. Steve Magoc, Aviation Science Department Chair, reported of the experience, “By telephone and email, I have heard back from some of the families that visited with us at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. All of their comments have been extremely positive. They have told me about how enthusiastic and informative [our faculty and staff] were in answering their questions and talking about our flight program and SLU.”
Though the annual Alumni and Industry Partner reception was not possible this year due to continued public health guidance, in its place Parks hosted a virtual reception the week prior to AirVenture. The virtual event allowed alumni to meet Interim Dean, Scott Duellman and Development Director, Aimee Foster, as well as receive an update on the aviation programs from Department Chair, Steve Magoc. The virtual reception also provided time for attendees to reminisce and share stories about their student experience at Parks College.
EAA AirVenture 2022 is scheduled for July 25-31, 2022 in Oshkosh, WI!
