Community Work and Service
Howard is currently serving as faculty advisor to the SLU Rotaract club, with the mission to improve public health and well being in St. Louis and abroad. He has been a Rotarian since 2005 and has formed and led teams to successfully implement grant-funded water and sanitation public health projects in Honduras. His organizational-level work has included economic and outcomes research on unique care models at children's hospitals. At the state level, this has included analysis of the development of the Coordinated Care Organization health reform model being implemented by the state of Oregon. Howard's current federal-level research program involves study of the relationships between the market penetration of the Medicare Advantage program and changes in the chronic disease burden at a population level.
