Limited Submissions

Often, sponsors will limit the number of proposals it receives from a single institution. If there is a limit to Saint Louis University submissions, please be prepared to follow the limited submissions preproposal process.

Preproposal Submission

To gain a submission slot, you must contact Jasmin Patel, assistant vice president for Research Strategy, at jasminpatel@slu.edu. Patel will organize an internal review, develop a selection time schedule and coordinate the submission slot assignment process.

Selection Process

If the number of preproposals exceeds the number of available slots, the process will include one of the following scenarios:

  • Each dean (or associate dean for research) prioritizes the preproposals from relevant college.
  • If the competition for slots is within a single college, the dean of the college selects the approved applications.
  • If the competition involves preproposals from more than one college, preproposals from each college are rank-ordered by the dean of the college and submitted to the Vice President for Research and the Research Council.
  • The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) Research Council will set up a process to mediate a decision. Multi-school preproposals must be included in the rank ordering determined by each dean.

Proposal Submission

If the OVPR receives more proposals than are permitted by the funding agency, those with OVPR approved slot assignments will get first priority for submission.
