SPS Scholarship Testimonial
Brandon Radford was awarded a SPS scholarship to help him pay tuition for the Spring 2016 terms. Brandon was very grateful for the help as he only receives a small stipend each month as a volunteer for AmeriCorps under the VetsWork Program. He says the tips he gives to current students are to, "Always ask questions and get things done early. The faculty and staff at SPS are great resources, that are willing to assist. Time management is definitely required to be successful at any university, but it becomes more necessary at SPS." Check out our SPS scholarships here.

SPS Associate Professor in Philosophy co-edited Virtues and Their Vices. According to the publisher, Oxford Press, "each of the essays, written exclusively for this volume, not only locates discussion of that virtue in its historical context, but also advances the discussion and debate concerning the understanding and role of the virtues." The book can be purchased via Amazon.com.
Associate Dean International Teaching Trips
Dr. John Ragsdale, Assistant Professor and Associate Dean of Learning and Outcomes Assessment for SPS, made three, week-long, international teaching trips this academic year: Kenya (November 2015, March 2016) and Latvia (December 2015). Dr. Ragsdale, who earned his Ph.D. in Scripture (Hebrew Bible) at Marquette University, explains that teaching in parts of the world where educational opportunities in his theological tradition, the Pentecostal/Charismatic tradition, are more limited fulfills a sense of calling and duty for him. He encourages everyone to find ways to use their gifts in the service of others, declaring that you always receive far more than you give.

Study Tip of the Month
Space out your studying, you'll learn more by studying a little every day instead of waiting to cram at the last minute. By studying every day, the material will stay in your long-term memory but if you try to study at the last moment, the material will only reside in your short-term memory that you'll easily forget.
Reflect and Connect
"Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later." -Og Mandino
