One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

 

Below are one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities for the Summer.  If you are interested in volunteering, simply contact the person listed at the end of each entry to make sure they still need volunteers.  This list is updated weekly, so check back often for updates.

August

Who - Urban Strategies and Flance Early Learning Center.
What - Volunteers are needed for a child safety fair at the learning center.  Help families and their children learn about bike safety and other important health issues, registration, directing traffic, etc.
When - Friday, August 28th, anytime 2pm - 7pm.

Who - BJC Hospice
What - Raise the Roof, a public display of 30 artist-designed children's playhouses that will be auctioned off this fall to pay for children's areas in BJC's soon-to-be-built hospice house. Volunteers are needed for three hour-shifts to keep an eye on the houses, staff an onsite gift boutique and sell raffle tickets.
When - Friday, Aug. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 29. from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Who - Doorways Housing.
What - Volunteers are needed for our National Night Out, providing our residents with a fun afternoon of games, children's activities, music, dancing, and more! 
When - Saturday, August 29th, 10am-4pm.

Who - The Magic House, St. Louis Children's Museum.
What - Volunteers are needed for our Guinness® World Records title setting event, where we will set the world record for most children doing simultaneous jumping jacks! 
When - Saturday, August 29th anytime 9am-Noon.

Who - Endangered Wolf Center
What - Assist with our Charity Polo Match, our biggest fundraiser of the year.  Help with parking, the children's area, photobooths, and more!
When - Saturday, August 29th, anytime 12:30pm-8:30pm.

Who - Great Rivers Greenway
What - Volunteers are needed for the 2015 Bicycle and Pedestrian Count, assessing the number of bikers and walkers during a given time in a various place.
When - Tuesday, Sept. 8th and Wednesday, Sept. 9th, both 5pm - 7pm.
Where - Various locations throughout city, some right by campus.  ***WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!***

Who - KidSmart - Tools for Learning
What - Volunteers are needed to sort and organize donations we have received from the annual Push For Pencils school-supply drive.

Who - Gateway 180: Homelessness Reversed
What - Volunteer as a Hole-Monitor at the 3rd Annual Gateway180 Golf Tournament. All proceeds from this event go directly towards supporting our Emergency Shelter, which houses 160 family members every day. 16 Hole Monitors are need to serve 3 hour shifts on our 4 "Prize Holes", measuring distances, confirming a hole-in-one, assisting golfers with directions, etc.

Who - Saint Louis Art Fair
What - Assist children create art, help patrons use a special social media tool to win a prize, greet patrons, help sell merchandise for the fair, or view the sign up link to find another area!

Who - Revitalization 2000, Inc. (a member of the Ville Collaborative)
What - Help us beautify our urban community garden in the Ville neighborhood of north St. Louis - no experience required!

Who - Christian Friends of New Americans.
What - Pre-med and health students are needed for our free monthly health clinic for immigrants, assisting with health screenings, vision/dental exams, nutrition education, etc.

Who - SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation
What - Volunteers are needed for the annual Glennon Gallop. All proceeds from this exciting polo match benefiting Danis Pediatric Center, which provides outpatient pediatric primary care services to children newborn to 18 years of age.
When - Saturday, Sept. 12th anytime 8am-10pm, 2 hour shifts.

Who - Alzheimer's Association
What - Volunteers are needed for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, enlisting partipants and crowd observers to become advocates for Alzheimer's Disease.  Training will be provided.

Who - CHADS Coalition for Mental Health
What - Volunteers are needed for our Superhero 5K Run/Walk, assisting with course set-up, water stations, food tables, and more!

What - Volunteers are needed for our annual Street Soccer Tournament, assisting with all aspects of this national tournament for soccer teams of men experiencing homelessness.

Who - Youth Learning Center
What - A group of fun volunteers are needed to assist at our 2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt and BBQ!  he goal of this fundraiser is to raise money to provide scholarships for students to attend our before/after school program. Event volunteers will assist with registration, raffle tickets, and treasure pull items. All event volunteers will enjoy a delicious and FREE Pappy's dinner!

Who - SLU Cancer Center
What - Volunteers are needed to help the Cancer Center run a free screening clinic at the United Black Drag Racers Association event. Volunteers will help with greeting guests, logistics assistance, and registering people for screenings.   
When - Saturday, Sept. 12th and Sunday, Sept. 13th anytime 8:30am - 4pm

What - Volunteers are needed for our annual Signature Chefs Auction, which brings together St. Louis' top chefs and philanthropists for a night of food and wine.  Must be 21 years of age.

Who - TREE House of Greater St. Louis
What - Volunteers are needed for our Annual Charity Polo Match, raising funds for adults and children with developmental disabilities to engage in animal-based therapy.

Who - The Cat Network, Inc.
What - Volunteers are needed for to help with our info booth during the Kirkwood Community Festival. We won't have any animals there, but will have information & photos about animals that are up for adoption, as well as selling t-shirts, carrier pads, pet beds, and hand made cat toys.
When - Saturday, Sept. 19th and Sunday, Sept. 20th, anytime 8:30am - 5pm.

Who - National Kidney Foundation
What - Volunteers are needed for a public health fair for families and children. As "KEEP Healthy" volunteers, serve at the various stations to conduct personal kidney disease risk assessments. Volunteers serve in the following stations: Registration, Survey Station, Body Mass Index Station (BMI) etc.
When - Saturday, Sept. 19th  from 9am - 2pm.
