One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

 

Below are upcoming one-time volunteer opportunities for the Spring semester.  If you are interested in volunteering, simply contact the person listed at the end of each entry to make sure they still need volunteers.  This list is updated weekly, so check back often for updates!



May


Who - SLU Trash To Treasure Drive.
What - Volunteers are needed to assist with all aspects of the annual Trash To Treasure Drive, where students can donate items before moving out.  Help with donation drop-off, organizing items, etc.
When - May 4th-10th - specific times available on the Sign-Up website!
Where - Various locations around campus.   ***ON CAMPUS!***

Who - Girls on the Run St. Louis.
What - Volunteers are needed to assist with our annual Girls on the Run 5K race, supporting our girls in a race they have trained all year for!
When - Saturday, May 7th anytime 7am-Noon.

Who - Christian Friends of New Americans.
What - Volunteers are needed for our monthly Health and Wellness Clinic for immigrants and refugees. Assist physicians with basic medical exams, registration, nutrition/health lessons and vision/hearing screenings.
When - Saturday, May 7th from 9:30am-12:30pm

Who - Habitat For Humanity St. Louis.
What - Volunteers are needed for our annual Tulip Bulb Giveaway, assisting our staff in handing out free bags of tulip bulbs to the community.

Who - Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
What - Volunteers are needed for Arbor Explorers, helping with check-in and activity facilitation at this program for girls to work on their Trees Badge.
When - Saturday, May 7th from 8:30am-12:30pm.

Who - Lupus Foundation of America.
What - Volunteers are needed for the Walk to End Lupus Now, aimed to raise funds and awareness on the medical condition.  Assistance is needed with set-up, traffic control, registration and money collection, children's activity center, education, and clean-up.
When - Saturday, May 7th anytime 1pm - 7pm.

Who - Young Adults Arthritis Group.
What - Volunteers are needed for our Trivia Night Fundraiser, helping with scoring, raffles, auction, and general event assistance.

Who - Guardian Angel Settlement Association.
What - Volunteer groups are needed to assist with a makeover to our Angel Boutique, which provides clients with affordable clothing and housewares.  Tasks include cleaning, painting, re-organizing, and more!
When - Any day Monday-Friday from May 9th until May 20th.  Times up to volunteers!

Who - St. Louis Health Equipment Lending Program (HELP).
What - Volunteers are needed for our St. Louis area-wide equipment drive, working at one of 12 sites collecting, loading, unloading donating medical equipment.
When - Saturday, May 14th anytime 8am-4pm

Who - St. Louis ARC, a non-profit organization working with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
What - Volunteers are needed for our monthly Club South Dance Clubs, a chaperoned dance for adults with disabilities. Help with set-up, check-in, serving refreshments, and more!
When - Friday, May 20th 7:30pm-10pm.

Who - Grace Hill Settlement House.
What - Volunteers are needed for our annual Big Spring Clean, assisting our community center and surrounding neighborhood residents with planting, cleaning, etc.

Who - St. Louis ARC, a non-profit organization working with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
What - Volunteers are needed for our monthly Teen Bowling events, helping with all aspects including set-up, scoring, lane assistance, etc.
When - Saturday, May 21st 9am-11am.

Who - Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
What - Volunteers are needed for our Snap Race, where teams of our Girl Scouts in grades K-3 participate in a photo scavenger hunt around St. Louis.  Help check in groups, with goodie bag distribution, judge and hand out prizes.
When - Saturday, May 21st from either Noon-3pm or 3:30-4:30pm.

Who - Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
What - Volunteers are needed for Dog Days of Service, assisting our Girl Scouts in grades K-3 with working on a service project benefitting local stray animals.  Projects include making dog treats, toys, etc.
When - Tuesday, May 24th from 5:30pm-7:30pm

June/July

Who - Annie's Hope, a bereavement program for children who have lost a parent.
What - Volunteers (especially MALES!)are needed for our annual Camp Courage (kids ages 6-11) and Camp Erin (kids ages 12-18), a weeklong program for kids who have lost one or both parents. This is a fun-filled, exciting experience where kids can be kids. We are looking for an energetic, kid loving group of people over the age of 18 to volunteer as cabin counselors, arts 'n crafts coordinators, and helping hands (they assist with various tasks that need to be completed throughout the week).

What - Volunteers are needed for Camp Independence, and adaptive sports day-camp held for children with cerebral palsy.  Assist with activities, snacks, etc.  Volunteer for a day, a week, or more!
When - June 13-17 / June 20-24 / June 27-July 1 / July 11-15 / July 18-22 / July 25-29; each day is 9am-4pm.

What - Volunteers are needed for our Power Walk event, assisting with all aspects of this Walk-A-Thon fundraiser.

Who - Education Exchange Corps.
What - The Education Exchange Corps is looking for volunteers to serve as summer instructors at our Summer Leadership Academy in St. Louis. This is a great opportunity to empower a lot of kids in North St. Louis City, and it's also an engaging, hands-on opportunity for your students to receive training and experience in active classroom environments.
When - July 11th -29th (do not have to commit to entire time).
