2017 Congressional Art Competition

2017 Congressional Art Competition

May 12, 2017-June 11, 2017

This year, 2017, William Lacy Clay, Member of Congress representing the Missouri's First District, will support the Congressional Art Competition. He is proud to offer this opportunity to aspiring artists in his district by hosting the 17th Annual Congressional Art Competition.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery, is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each congressional district. Wm. Lacy Clay encouraged aspiring young artists who live in Missouri's First District to participate in this contest.

All entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts. One winner and two runners up will be selected. The first place - grand prize - winner will receive two round trip airfare tickets to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning entry will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol, and cannot be returned to the student earlier.

The 2017 Congressional Art Competition will open on May 12, 2017 with an opening reception from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The exhibit will be located on the first floor of the Saint Louis University Museum of Art. Opening parking will be available in the Canisius Lot next to the buiding.
