Apply for Financial Aid

At Saint Louis University, we are committed to making the financial aid process seamless and manageable for you and your family.

Here are major steps in the process:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): We encourage all students to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is a free Department of Education tool that collects pertinent information in order to calculate your student's expected family contribution (EFC). All colleges and universities use your EFC to determine your student's eligibility for aid. For consideration for need-based assistance or eligibility for low interest student loans, students must complete the FAFSA. Priority consideration is given to students who file prior to March 1st. Saint Louis University's FAFSA school code is 002506.
  • You may use estimated figures to complete the FAFSA. Once you have completed your tax returns, you may then make a correction to your submitted FAFSA once you have filed your federal tax return.
  • The FAFSA must be signed by the student and the parent of the student (if the student is deemed to be dependent defined by the FAFSA). The FAFSA may be signed electronically by using a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. You may obtain an FSA ID by clicking here. Keep this FSA ID in a secure location as you will need it to sign your FAFSA each year.
  • Financial Aid Package: Once SLU receives your FAFSA, we will assemble Financial Aid Package for each admitted student. New students will be sent this award letter via both e-mail and postal mail. Returning students will receive this information via e-mail.
  • Review and Accept/Decline Award: Review and accept or decline your award through mySLU. For instructions on accepting or logging into mySLU, click here. If you accept a loan, remember that you may need to complete a master promissory note (agreement between you and a lender).
Higher purpose. Greater good.
