The SLU 101 Program is designed to meet the following student learning outcomes framed by the University-Wide Undergraduate Learning Outcomes and the University Mission.

Goals of the SLU 101 Program:
We will...

  • Acquaint students with the University mission, Jesuit Catholic values, and the university's commitment to service and social justice that support individual growth and development.
  • Provide shared experiences for students that promote their sense of belonging, help them build positive connections, and affirm their choice in attending Saint Louis University.
  • Provide students time to learn about academic advising, degree requirements, student success resources, and establish a course schedule for the fall semester.
  • Empower students with the ability to navigate and connect with the physical environment of the campus and identify campus resources.
  • Provide opportunities for students to engage in reflection and dialogue about values, transition, expectations, and identity to assist in building an inclusive community.

Outcomes of the SLU 101 Program:
Students will...

  • Identify the basic principles of the University Mission.
  • Describe their understanding of their academic requirements and expectations.
  • Identify campus resources that are available to help them in their transition (social or academic).
  • Name two ways they can become involved on campus.
  • Establish a connection with one or more other students.
