Saint Louis University Studio Art Degree Overview

Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, Saint Louis University's undergraduate degree program in studio art encourages your development as an artist within the framework of a larger liberal arts education. SLU studio art students learn not just about their individual abilities as an artist, but also about connections that take place across disciplines and cultural differences. Graduates leave SLU with a portfolio of work and a better understanding of their own values and creative skills, as well as those of others.

SLU studio art students display their work in the McNamee Art Gallery, located on the ground floor of Saint Louis University's Historic Samuel Cupples House. Students also have access to SLU's two nationally recognized art museums: the Saint Louis University Museum of Art, also known as SLUMA, and the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art, known as MOCRA.

Admission as a studio art major requires a successful portfolio review. Applicants register and submit their portfolio on the SlideRoom website using SLU's portal:

Portfolios should have 12 to 15 examples of your artwork representing a range of interests and skills in art, including observation-based drawing.
