Health and Safety

Health and safety are primary concerns for students studying abroad. The following information provides information on your international health insurance, general health information, safety and security tips, and additional safety and security resources. As you review this information, if you have any questions or would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the Study Abroad Office. The Study Abroad Office is available to support and assist you as you prepare for your semester abroad, throughout your semester abroad, and as you return back to the United States.

Student International Health Insurance
To prepare and safeguard Saint Louis University students studying abroad, the Office of International Services adopted a comprehensive insurance package, mandatory for all students participating in a Saint Louis University International Program.  International Programs include, but are not limited to, an international program of study, research, service or other University sponsored international experience.

Students travelling to the Saint Louis University Campus in Madrid, Spain enroll in the Sanitas insurance plan.

Students travelling abroad to destinations other than Madrid enroll in the HTH Worldwide insurance plan.

Student Travel Warning Policy
Saint Louis University recognizes the risks to safety and security of students who travel internationally, and, particularly to students who travel to countries in which the U.S. Department of State or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a travel warning. The University reserves the right to cancel or suspend any program at any time in its sole discretion if it determines that there is unnecessary or significant risk to participants. For additional information, please review the entire policy and contact the Office of International Services with any additional questions.
