SLU welcomes students to a new academic year.

This year, SLU has welcomed one of the largest and most academically gifted freshman classes in history.

Among the Class of 2017's impressive attributes are:

  • A mean GPA of 3.81
  • An average ACT score of 27.6
  • An average SAT score of 1240
  • 27 Presidential Scholarship recipients, 40 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship recipients, 239 Vice President's Scholarship recipients and 498 Dean's Scholarship recipients.

SLU's newest Billikens hail from 42 states and 21 countries — a sign of the University's growing national and international reach and reputation.

New and returning students were greeted with a number of improvements and enhancements this fall.

One of the biggest changes to take place this year is the historic move of the School of Law to downtown St. Louis, in the heart of the city's legal community.

The University spent more than $30 million renovating Scott Hall, adding state-of-the-art classrooms, as well as a brand new 12th floor, which is home to the Anheuser-Busch Foundation Student Commons, John K. Pruellage Courtroom and the Lou W. Riethmann Jr. Pavilion.

Back in Midtown, SLU completed the second phase of its Center for Global Citizenship project. The $8-million renovation of the former West Pine Gym includes the AT&T Student Commons and the C.S. Huh Auditorium.

There have also been a number advancements for SLU's academic programs. Chief among them, the newly created College for Public Health and Social Justice began its first academic year as a new unit since SLU's nationally ranked Schools of Public Health and Social Work officially combined in July.

The college is home to five undergraduate majors (public health, social work, health management, criminology and criminal justice, emergency management) as well as graduate programs in multiple disciplines of public health, health administration and social work.

Ranked one of the top five Jesuit universities in the country, Saint Louis University provides its students with the tools they need to succeed in the world's changing and dynamic workforce.
