Physician Assistant Program
On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the PA Program, welcome to the website of the Department of Physician Assistant Education at Saint Louis University!
In keeping with the Ignatian concept of cura personalis, our dedicated and knowledgeable faculty and staff strive to create an educational environment that promotes respect and empathy in addition to the acquisition and application of clinical knowledge and skills, and the understanding of patient needs. The primary mission of the Saint Louis University PA Program is to educate men and women to become competent, compassionate physician assistants dedicated to excellence in health care and the service of humanity.
In the generalist tradition, our curriculum provides a broad foundation in the medical and surgical disciplines. In addition to our principal faculty members, the SLU PA Program draws from a vast network of experts in their respective fields for the didactic and clinical experiences of our students. These experiences foster intellectual curiosity and allow students to construct a comprehensive fund of knowledge while also developing personal and professional responsibility.
Over and above their academic and clinical obligations, our students are involved in a variety of university and community service and are encouraged to participate in regional and national physician assistant activities as well. We feel that empowering students as socially responsible learners helps assure high quality care and advocacy for each patient whose life is touched by one of our students or graduates.
The Saint Louis University PA Program is genuinely enriched by our students and the wide variety of life, educational and health care experience they bring to us. We understand that the balance between personal life and life as a PA student can be difficult. While it is a difficult undertaking, it is also very meaningful and rewarding and will ultimately benefit the care of the patient.
