HIPAA

The purpose of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) program is to guide Saint Louis University's efforts to comply with the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule by creating and maintaining appropriate standards, procedures, and controls to prevent, detect, contain, and correct security violations pertaining to Protected Health Information (PHI).

Saint Louis University endeavors to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health care information (PHI) by taking reasonable and appropriate steps to address the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

Effective July 1, 2022, SLUCare HIPAA issues are being handled by SSM.  If you have concerns or questions about potential unethical acts or patient privacy issues, please contact the SSM Ethics and Compliance Helpline at 877-427-7275. If you have a reason to believe that a member of the community may have violated a law, rule, regulation or policy you have a responsibility to submit a good faith report of those concerns to Compliance Department or to the SLU Integrity Hotline.
