Fitness Center Orientation
SLU students have the opportunity to become familiar with multiple fitness center spaces through complimentary fitness center orientations. Students can check in with the building supervisor or the fitness center attendant on duty and request an orientation.
Healthy Campus Week
SLU celebrates Healthy Campus Week in September. It includes a week full of activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating, stress management and overall wellness. This year’s events will be highlighted on social media with the hashtag #HealthyCampus.
The goal of this program is to accumulate "Ironman" distances over a five-week period. This includes:
- 2.5 miles swimming (32 lengths per week/4.5 lengths per day)
- 120 miles bicycling (22.4 miles per week/3.2 miles per day)
- 26 miles running (5.24 miles per week/.75 miles per day)
Participants accumulate mileage on their own and self-report their totals each week. All participants who actively engage in the program will earn an IRON-SLU shirt and are eligible for raffle prizes.
The next challenge is scheduled for Spring 2019.
National Employee Health and Fitness Day
This is a great day to incorporate fitness into your schedule. The Simon Recreation Center will be open for complimentary usage to all faculty and staff. Employees do not need to be members to participate. Simply bring your SLU ID and enjoy the many benefits of exercise. Spring dates for 2019 coming soon.
