Students: faculty need your feedback! Fill out your online course evaluations before December 21. Check your SLU email for a link to access the evaluations.

As part of the Strategic Enrollment Management planning, we hold two SEM Open Fora a year. These sessions provide a public forum for information sharing and brainstorming for recruitment and retention. We look to attract and retain enthusiastic, "right-fit" students. Join us on Monday, December 11, 1:30 p.m., SIH A.

Final Exams (December 14-20) take place in the rooms where classes normally meet, but follow a special schedule.

If you are in the process of renewing your Tarjeta de Estudiante and plan to leave the Schengen area for the Christmas Break, you must apply for an autorización de regreso this week (reentry permit). Read the Residency Card section of our website for information on making an appointment.

May and Summer 2018 Candidates: The online application for May graduation is open; however, if Summer is your final term of study, please apply for Summer 2018 instead, once available. This application does not affect eligibility to participate in May's Commencement. Contact Jaime Ortiz if you have questions.

Students: Once all your grades are posted after finals, make your transcript requests through Banner. Transcripts do not get mailed automatically. For more information, email: registrar-madrid@slu.edu.

Need help preparing your final papers and portfolio? The English Writing Center, located in PRH 12, is open during finals week!

IMPORTANT: All library materials out on loan to non-returning students must be returned  and all outstanding fines paid before 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20. Students who fail to do so will have a hold placed on their academic record and no transcripts will be released until the matter is resolved. NOTE: Any exceptions to the above must be cleared beforehand with library management (Library Office).

Lecture by Professor Chornet (Communication): "When Not Saying 'Thank You' is the Right Thing to Do: A Discursive Approach to the Expression of Gratitude in Spain." Spanish and Catalan each have a culturally specific way to express gratitude. Theoretical and methodological implications to the study of politeness behaviors are discussed. Monday, December 11, 11:00 a.m., PRH-4.

Student Art Exhibition: A showcase of this semester's art work. Wednesday, December 13, 5:00 p.m., SIH Art Studio. Food and refreshments will be served.

Christmas Clothes Drive. Donate any winter clothes or toiletries for us to distribute through BocaTalk. Boxes for donations are at the entrance of PRH. All Lost & Found items which have not been claimed by anyone become part of this Christmas donation at the end of this Fall semester.

Faculty & Staff Christmas Toy Drive 2017 lasts until Friday, December 15. All toys must be given to Beatriz at the SIH Reception.
