The Center for Service and Community Engagement also works to encourage personal and social responsibility by transforming volunteers into effective servant leaders and advocates of social justice. Students who wish to take their service efforts "to the next level" can engage in a variety of ways:
- Social Justice and Advocacy Training: Students who are interested in taking their service and community engagement efforts "to the next level" participate in this intensive, six-part series, where they learn and develop skills related to working for social change at the systemic level. Those who complete the training are given the opportunity to engage in a PAID Social Change Internship the following year, at a community organization of their choosing, for up to $2000.
- SLU-Belize Project: Through a unique and collaborative partnership with St. Martin's parish and school in Belize City, faculty and students have the opportunity to live our Saint Louis University's mission of Service of Humanity by working with the people of St. Martin's and Belize in a spirit of solidarity that emanates from a faith that promotes justice.
- Year of Service Program: Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to explore the possibility of doing a year (or two!) of service after graduation, whether here in St. Louis, around the country, or across the world!
