One-Time Volunteer Opportunities


Below are one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities for the Summer.  If you are interested in volunteering, simply contact the person listed at the end of each entry to make sure they still need volunteers.  This list is updated weekly, so check back often for updates.


- Christian Friends of New Americans.
What - Pre-med and health students are needed for our free monthly health clinic for immigrants, assisting with health screenings, vision/dental exams, nutrition education, etc.
When - Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00am-12:30pm.

Who - BARC, the area's largest spay/neuter organization for pets of low income families.
What - Volunteers are needed for the Rockin' Zero Ramble Run and Happy Hour, a fundraiser that involves a 5K race and party.  Help with registration, course stations, food and drinks, and more!

Who - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - JDRF.
What - Volunteers are needed for our annual JDRF One Walk, assisting with all aspects of this fundraiser race.
When - Saturday, October 3rd anytime 9am-3pm (Set-up); Sunday, October 4th anytime 7am-3pm (Race Day)

Who - Missouri Botanical Gardens 
What - Best of Missouri Market. Volunteers are needed with an assortment of activities, from welcoming guests to face painting to event cleanup. Volunteer timeslots are generally for two and a half hours.
When - Saturday, Oct. 3rd and Sunday, Oct. 4th from 9am-5pm

Who - Endangered Wolf Center
What - Volunteers are needed for the Wolf Center's open house. We need people to help with parking, serving food, photo booth and various other booths such as silent auction and gift shop.

What - Groups or individuals needed for our regular Trail Crew, helping to maintain and build trails in various parks.

Who - Connections to Success
What - Volunteers are needed as ConnectMeal Providers, to donate and serve a meal to Connections to Success families during the Monday night Connect program.
When - Monday, October 12th 5-7pm.

Who - STL Village, a care organization for older adults.
What - Volunteers are needed for the Village Aglow Fundraising Event, to help with set-up, directing guests, taking tickets, and clean-up.

Who - Springboard, educating youth in the areas of fine and performing arts.

Who - SSM Saint Louis University Hospital.
What - Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Medical Team.  SSM SLU Hospital will be recruiting medical volunteers as part of our Medical Team at the race. Students studying within the medical field are eligible to qualify as medical volunteers for this event.
When - Sunday, October 18th anytime 5:30am - 3pm (multiple shifts available)

Who - Friends of Wings, BJC's pediatric hospice program.
What - Volunteers are needed for our fashion show fundraiser, assisting with registration, ushering, and serving food and drinks.

Who - Solea Water Project.
What - Volunteers are needed to help set-up, run, and tear down our Octoberfest Fundraiser at the Amsterdam Tavern.  This is an event with food drinks, raffles, and an auction.
When - Friday, October 23rd either 4-7:30pm or 7:30-11pm.

Who - Saint Louis University College of Public Health and Social Justice.
What - Volunteers are needed to act as "patients" for a mock exercise that involves distributing life-saving medications to people in need in the event of a bio-terrorism attack on the region.

Who - Gateway Greening's City Seeds Urban Farm.
What - Help us close the City Seeds Urban Farm for the winter!  Amend vegetable gardens with compost, sow cover crop seeds, and tidy the farm.

What - Volunteers are needed to help with a Halloween Party for children living at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Hospital.

Who - American Red Cross.
What - Individials and groups of volunteers are needed to assis with the Home Fire Preparedness Event in St. Louis City, helping to install smoke alarms in homes with elderly and at-risk families.
When - Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st, anytime 9am-3pm.
