Why I Chose SLU
SLU checked off all the boxes I set out for myself. In terms of campus location, academics and student lifestyle, SLU seemed to fit what I was looking for.
When I realized how many people I could turn to in times of need, it made me realize how fortunate I was to have SLU bring together such amazing people. Surrounding myself with amazing people reassures me that I made the right choice.
What I Love About the Billiken Community
One of my favorite things about the Billiken community is the encouragement to be involved! SLU pushes for an environment that is diverse and inclusive, which fosters the ability to seek involvement no matter your interests.
What's Cool About My Major
Something cool about studying neuroscience at SLU is being able to go into classes that you are deeply interested and passionate about. For neuroscience especially, all of the major-specific classes sound so cool and engaging (like dissecting brains)!
My favorite part of SLU’s campus is having days where you run into so many people you know but also find some days where you meet so many new strangers. Even with our comparatively small class size, there are so many people to meet but a lot of people to be familiar with.
Something I Love About St. Louis Is ...
... being able to experience a fantastic city life while being a college student. The age of which you are a college student is one of the best times to try something new, especially in the city.
My Favorite SLU Tradition
Welcome week has to be my favorite tradition. After a long summer break all I wanted to do was to go back to my second home — SLU! SLU does an amazing job of welcoming in the incoming class while involving upperclassmen as well. It is a week packed full of awesome activities.
Advice for Your College Search
Get the most out of your college visits by being proactive. Ask questions, tour the beautiful campuses and be optimistic about visualizing yourself there! Not every college will be a good fit, but stay optimistic about finding the one for you.
Also — talk to current students! The best way to get a feel for the student body is definitely to go directly to the source: the students! Many of us are very approachable and are willing to help any prospective student in the college search process.
