This episode of “1818: A Saint Louis University Alumni Podcast,” starts with legendary NASA flight director and SLU alumnus Eugene "Gene" Kranz (PC '54). Then, Ellen Harshman, Ph.D., J.D., dean emerita of the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, and University Archivist Katie Mascari join our hosts to discuss how SLU has transformed academic knowledge into societal progress.

In 1980, just eight years after Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 was signed into law, the Billiken volleyball team beat nationally ranked Florida State University and the University of Louisville, becoming the first athletic team to win a women’s championship title for Saint Louis University.

More than a decade after completing the program, Avi Goldberg, D.D.S., (CADE ’12) said he continues to enjoy the tight-knit community and the deep sense of connection that he shares with his former CADE classmates.

Maggie Kroeff Streiff (PH ’19) felt a strong connection to the Jesuit call to become a “woman for others” for as long as she can remember, she said. After graduating SLU with a bachelor’s degree in public health, she continued to live what she learned as the quality and population health director at the Indiana Primary Health Care Association.
