Nutrition and Dietetics Welcomes New Chair
Saint Louis University's Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Doisy College of Health Sciences will soon welcome Ivis T. Forrester, Ph.D., M.P.H., RDN, LDN, as department chair. Dr. Forrester has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the dietetics profession, including serving as the director of two didactic programs in dietetics.
Dr. Forrester is currently an associate professor and director of the nutritional sciences (dietetics) program at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. Her research has included: sustainable food systems, prostate and colorectal cancer, valued-added product development, health disparities of lifestyle and food-related chronic diseases, and maternal and child nutrition (breastfeeding).
Dr. Forrester earned her Bachelor of Science in animal and poultry science and her Master of Science in food and nutrition at Tuskegee University before going on to the University of Missouri - Columbia to earn her doctoral degree in human nutrition.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Forrester has been published in several professional journals - including the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the Journal of the American Dietetic Association), Journal of Hunger and Environmental Nutrition, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Food Science and American Journal of Plant Science . She has secured funding from various agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; U.S. Department of Agriculture; U.S. Department of Education, Title III, CCRAA; and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
