Laura is no stranger to CPHSJ as she served as the practice experience and professional development coordinator for the Master of Public Health program from 2019 to 2022. Most recently, Laura worked as an employer relations consultant with SLU Career Services from 2022 to 2025.

With more than five years of experience at SLU and as a former CPHSJ staff member, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge in graduate education and the career landscape. In her role with Career Services, she developed and nurtured relationships with employers to expand student career opportunities through the deployment of strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, and cross-departmental collaboration.

During Laura’s previous role with the M.P.H. program, she supported students through mentoring, professional development and fostering relationships with public health professionals to secure new internship sites and preceptor relationships.

"We are looking forward to Laura returning to CPHSJ to ensure a smooth transition during future recruiting cycles," said Kelly Lane-deGraaf, Ph.D., associate dean of academic affairs at the College for Public Health and Social Justice. "Laura's time in career services and her previous role in our college bring a relevant expertise of the needs of our current and future students as well as an understanding of our college’s goals and growth opportunities. We are grateful for her willingness to accept this role and look forward to what she will bring to our college."

Beyond her SLU experience, Laura brings expertise in marketing and communications, event operations, developing peer partnerships, and working with potential employers in the professional arena.

Her return ensures a smooth transition during this year’s recruiting cycle, and with a bounty of fresh ideas applicable to graduate admissions.

A special thank-you to Caroline Cartledge and Nathan Sharp for their dedication in supporting admissions during this interim period. We also extend our appreciation to Bernie Backer, who served CPHSJ in this role for many years and SLU for 30 years.
