Alumni Spotlight: Macy Ferguson-Smith (MSW '17)

Macy Ferguson-Smith (MSW '17) is making remarkable strides as the senior advisor of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and Health Equity at Quincy Medical Group.

As a behavioral health therapist, she has led transformative initiatives, including DEI-focused employee resource groups, inclusive recruitment strategies and internal equity audits.

Ferguson-Smith's leadership extends into community-based DEI work, where she mentors aspiring social workers and chairs the Quincy Human Rights Commission, advocating for racial equity, immigrant rights and mental health access. Her impactful work has earned her numerous accolades, including a residency in The Obama Foundation Leaders USA program and recognition from Intersectional Innovations as a Top 25 Restorative Leader.

Ferguson-Smith credits the SLU School of Social Work for inspiring her passion. As she prepares to earn her Ed.D. in organizational justice in 2025, she remains devoted to advancing DEI in social work.
