The new clinical space was created to provide a realistic learning environment for graduate students.

A new clinical space in Saint Louis University’s Learning Resources Center explicitly designed for graduate students provides a realistic learning environment where students can engage in simulated interactions and practice essential skills in a safe, controlled setting. This space differentiates SLU’s social work and applied behavior analysis programs by bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Led by Dr. Shannon Cooper-Sadlo (social work) and Professor Heather Lewis (applied behavior analysis), the lab allows students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing retention and reinforcing their understanding of complex concepts. Through hands-on practice, students develop vital skills in assessment, intervention and communication, as well as critical thinking and decision-making in challenging situations.
