Global Mini-Residency in Orthodontics
The SLU Global Mini-Residency in Orthodontics is a three-day intensive educational program designed to provide participants with an advanced understanding of clear aligner therapy, digital treatment planning, and direct-printed aligner workflows.
The program combines evidence-based lectures, clinical discussions, hands-on digital workshops, laboratory-based printing experiences and social networking events. It emphasizes not only clinical protocols, but also the biological, biomechanical, digital and laboratory principles that support predictable aligner treatment.
This mini-residency aligns with the mission of the Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education to promote innovation, evidence-based orthodontics, digital dentistry and advanced clinical education.

Program Objectives
Clear Aligner Therapy
Understand the current evidence supporting clear aligner therapy, including indications, limitations, predictable movements and areas requiring additional biomechanical control.
Digital Orthodontics
Understand digital treatment planning workflows, including software-based setup, staging, support generation, shell creation and integration of different treatment planning platforms.
Direct-Printed Aligners
Understand the scientific and clinical principles of direct-printed aligners, including material behavior, design, printing, post-processing, curing, finishing and quality control.
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Graduates of a formal, university- or hospital-based postgraduate orthodontic residency program of at least two years
- Current residents of a formal, university- or hospital-based postgraduate orthodontic residency program of at least two years
Application Process
Prospective domestic and international applicants must complete the online application form to verify prerequisite eligibility.
Seats are allocated in chronological order based on application approval and subsequent tuition clearance. Once the capacity is reached, incoming submissions are securely logged onto a prioritized waiting list. If a seat becomes available, waitlisted applicants will be contacted in chronological order.

Tuition and Expenses
Once the online application form is submitted, please contact Kimberly Cox, program coordinator, for payment instructions.
Tuition includes all course materials and scheduled welcome breakfasts, catered lunch and program networking events, including the welcome reception and banquet.
Participants are independently responsible for their lodging arrangements, travel expenses and any individual weekend meals not scheduled as part of the residency curriculum.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Registrants who submit a written withdrawal request more than two calendar months before the inaugural session will receive a complete 100% refund of all processed tuition fees. For withdrawal requests submitted within the two-month window preceding the course start date, a non-refundable institutional administrative fee of $200 USD will be deducted from the total refund.
A full tuition return will be processed for all registered participants if the program is canceled due to low registration. Saint Louis University accepts no liability for travel adjustments, airline change penalties or independent lodging expenses incurred as a result of program cancellation or schedule changes.
