Spanish programs director, Olga Muñoz, Ph.D., served as the master of ceremonies for the 2019 Master of Arts in Spanish Summer Commencement, held in the San Ignacio Hall Auditorium. This summer's celebration was an intimate one, during which both the graduate and faculty had the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, education and future goals in the company of all the SLU-Madrid M.A. students.

SLU-Madrid's Summer M.A. in Spanish program is unique in that it permits students to complete their degree over four to five intensive summer sessions (late June/July) in Spain, complemented by online coursework. The program's structure permits teachers of Spanish in the U.S. and, increasingly, around the world, to focus on their professions during the traditional academic year at primary and secondary schools, while pursuing the degree over the summer.

Taught by internationally recognized faculty, coursework focuses on Spanish and Latin American literature and linguistics. The program also prepares graduates for doctoral programs in Spanish and education.
