"The program itself is very important since it is accredited by ABET, the agency that accredits science and technology engineering programs. It is based on liberal art concepts and the program itself prepares students very well, besides being excellent professionally speaking," said Program Director Dr. Taieb Gasmi, Ph.D. (Engineering).

The 122-credit undergraduate program consists of required courses such as Design Thinking, Thermal Systems Design and Machine Design. The program's main aim is for students to gain mastery of structural analysis and project management.

"Our graduates will have the right profile making them ready for the global job market," said Dr. Gasmi.

STEM field degrees make up the top 25 college degrees —making the B.S. in Mechanical Engineering an attractive choice, according to the World Economic Forum.

The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is SLU-Madrid's second new program addition this year after announcing the B.A. in Environmental Studies
