SLU-Madrid Hosts Chaifetz School of Business Students

by Isaiah Voss

From Jan. 4 through Jan. 14, One-Year MBA (OYMBA) students from SLU-St. Louis visited Spain and the Madrid Campus for their international immersion trip included in the program's curriculum.

OYMBA students networked with Spanish businesses and business executives, including meeting with Anna Esquius during their trip to Coca-Cola's facilities in Madrid.

Students attended a workshop on branding and communications by Joan Roca from Estrella Damm, a Spanish beer company.

Participants traveled to nearby Toledo to visit Logisfashion, a logistics center. After their visit, the SLU-St. Louis visitors toured the city of Toledo — a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Madrid-specific business representatives from MR Guitarras and Dstila spoke to students, and the group toured Dstila’s distillery within the city limits.

OYMBA students visited another UNESCO World Heritage site, Segovia. During the day trip, they visited Monte Nevado, a Spanish dry-cured ham producer.

MBA students worked on business challenges throughout their weeklong stay. They also explored three Spanish cities. In Madrid, they watched the annual Cabalgata de Reyes (Three Kings Parade) and hopped on one of the last Christmas light tour buses of the season.

The Chaifetz School's One-Year MBA program is the only full-time, AACSB-accredited MBA program in the St. Louis region, which allows students to earn an MBA in just 11 months.
