From Madrid to Lisbon: SLU-Madrid Researcher Suggests Ideas for Sustainable Cities

Marketing professor, Miguel García, Ph.D., represented Saint Louis University-Madrid at the 16th International Sustainability Transitions (IST) Conference on June 24 to 26 in Lisbon, Portugal, presenting his research on collaborative urban development.

García's presentation, titled "Knowledge Co-Creation for Urban Transitions," examines how shared knowledge systems and participatory processes can foster more inclusive and resilient city transformations.

"It has been a pleasure representing SLU-Madrid at the 16th International Sustainability Transitions Conference in Lisbon," García said. "I presented my research on knowledge co-creation for urban transitions, which explores how collaborative processes and shared knowledge systems enable more inclusive, resilient city transformations."

The Sustainability Transitions Research Network organized IST 2025, bringing together more than 500 academics, policymakers and practitioners from around the world. This year's theme, "Tensions and Trade-Offs in Structural Changes for Sustainability Transitions," focused on the challenges of balancing equity, innovation, governance and systemic change in the pursuit of sustainability.
