SLU-Madrid Expands Tech Training Through Cisco Networking and PUE Academies

by Isaiah Voss

Saint Louis University-Madrid is expanding its technology education offerings through an enhanced partnership with Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) and PUE Academy, providing students with access to industry-recognized certifications and career-focused training in technology and digital skills.

The initiative strengthens SLU-Madrid's commitment to preparing students for an evolving workforce by integrating professional certification programs into its academic offerings. Through its collaboration with PUE Academy and Cisco Networking Academy, students can develop practical skills in networking, cybersecurity, information technology and digital productivity while earning credentials recognized by employers worldwide.

"We are excited to expand our collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) and PUE Academy, enabling us to deliver high-quality training and globally recognized certifications to our students," said Asad Rehman. "As part of this journey, I am proud to serve as an instructor with the Cisco Networking Academy, supporting students in building in-demand skills in networking, cybersecurity and IT — preparing them for successful careers in the digital world."

SLU-Madrid serves as a PUE Academy Center and official certification center, allowing students to pursue internationally recognized certifications, including Microsoft Office Specialist credentials with a particular focus on Microsoft Excel. The university is now expanding those opportunities through the addition of Cisco Networking Academy programs, one of the world's largest technology education and workforce development initiatives.

During the visit, PUE Academy's Àngel Garcia met with members of the SLU-Madrid community to discuss the progress of the collaboration and identify ways to further strengthen the university's academic offerings through official technology training and certification programs.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to connecting education with employability, helping students gain practical, industry-relevant skills that complement their academic studies and prepare them for professional success in an increasingly digital world.

By expanding access to globally recognized certifications, SLU-Madrid continues to provide students with opportunities to develop technical expertise, demonstrate workplace competencies and enhance their career readiness before graduation.
