Billiken Success Program

For some students, full acceptance to Saint Louis University is contingent upon enrollment in and successful completion of the Billiken Success Program (BSP). The Billiken Success Program is a structured, tailored learning module based on assessments, skills, interests and ongoing achievement.

The Billiken Success Program runs August through May. It kicks off with JumpStart, a five-day phase before the start of the fall semester and concludes at the completion of your freshman year, following the spring semester phase.

Important Information for Fall 2020

Billiken Success Program Requirements

Filled with enriching learning experiences, the Billiken Success Program offers educational opportunities that will benefit you through graduation and beyond. Designed to be a collaborative effort that you lead, the program will help prepare and stretch you for new academic challenges with engaging learning activities, assessment workshops, guidance opportunities and fun college experiences.  Participants who present a successful Billiken Success Program portfolio will continue as fully admitted second-year SLU students.

For 2020-2021, successful Billiken Success Program participants will:

  1. Attend and participate fully in each of the three phases of the Billiken Success Program (JumpStart, fall, spring). If the student is absent from any aspect of JumpStart, including the BSP kickoff, the student’s conditional admission for the fall is revoked (refer to the letter for conditional admission); and the conditional admission becomes effective for the student starting in the following spring semester.
  2. Earn a positive recommendation from the Billiken Success Program academic advisor.
  3. Implement the Billiken Success Program Learning Agreement for each of the three phases.
  4. Complete the first year in academic “good standing.”
  5. Earn at least 18 new credit hours by the end of the first year, including University 101 (UNIV-1010), a one credit hour class during the fall semester designed to help all first-year students successfully transition to SLU and establish skills for educational success.
