The School of Science and Engineering’s pre-college programs are designed to build interest in engineering, science and aviation among middle and high school students in the community through immersive, hands-on experiences.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Hosted during Engineers Week each February, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day invites middle and high school students throughout the St. Louis region to visit campus for lab visits with SLU faculty, hands-on activities and opportunities to meet with current female engineering students.  

Education Day at Six Flags/Mid America Adventure

Every year, the School of Science and Engineering and the SLU School of Education join forces to introduce high school students to STEM fields through a special outreach event at Mid America Adventure (formerly Six Flags St. Louis). SLU students, faculty and staff set up displays and demonstrations to get future scientists, engineers and pilots introduced to the many career opportunities in the field and to share the exciting work happening at SLU. 

 

High School Summer Programs

High school students work on a project during the SSE Engineering Summer Academy.  

Saint Louis University’s School of Science and Engineering offers several summer programs to introduce high school students to the latest technology and career paths in engineering, robotics and aviation. Participants are led by faculty and student mentors through hands-on activities that include taking flight in a SLU airplane, designing and building robots and off-campus field trips to meet with industry leaders. 

High School Presentations and Hands-on Activities

Educators: Are you looking for a way for your students to learn more about engineering, science or aviation? A team of expert faculty and graduate students from the School of Science and Engineering are available to present in classrooms throughout the St. Louis region. If interested, reach out to sseoutreach@slu.edu with any requests, and include the following: 

  • Science, engineering or aviation discipline and/or research topic you would like presented.
  • Days and times you would like the presenter to attend your classes or sessions.
  • Age group of students who will participate in the presentation or activity.

High school presentations are subject to the availability of SLU faculty.
