Tugce Baser, Ph.D., Receives $7.5 Million Department of Defense Research Grant

Tugce Baser, Ph.D., associate professor of civil engineering at Saint Louis University, was awarded a Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) grant from the Department of Defense.
Dr. Baser received a 5-year, $7.5 million grant for the project "Interdisciplinary Material Science for the Hyperspectral Remote Sensing of Permafrost."
This project is in collaboration with SLU researchers Dr. Vasit Sagan and Dr. Sahin Ozdemir, along with researchers from the University of Alaska, Pennsylvania State University and Ohio University The research will focus on hyperspectral remote sensing and permafrost in the arctic.
Dr. Baser's focuses on geotechnical engineering, with research interests that include multiphysics of geomaterials, unsaturated soil mechanics, subsurfcace characterizations and geoenergy systems.
