SLU-Madrid Announces Bachelor Program in Marketing

SLU-Madrid's Department of Business and Economics now offers the B.S. in Marketing at the Madrid Campus. With the addition of the marketing major, students can now complete 15 different bachelor’s degree programs in Madrid (two of which require one semester of study in St. Louis). 

“This new marketing major speaks to SLU-Madrid’s increasing academic diversity,” says SLU-Madrid Dean and Director Paul Vita, Ph.D. "It also opens exciting career paths to students from around the world who come to Spain to pursue SLU’s liberal arts degree programs.”

SLU-Madrid offers a unique educational experience characterized by an exceptionally low student-to-teacher ratio and a multicultural environment with students and faculty from across the globe.  Pictured above, business professor Dr. Marta Moreno offers individualized instruction outside of the classroom.

Dave Howden, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Business and Economics, adds, “By increasing the variety of degrees offered in Madrid, we are removing barriers to students who are motivated to study their program of choice in an international environment. In recent years, we have seen an increased demand for the marketing program in Madrid, and we are pleased to be able to respond accordingly.”

Capitalizing on SLU-Madrid's privileged location in Spain's capital, guest lecturers, visits to businesses and internships extend student learning beyond the classroom. 

SLU's international faculty and student body create a dynamic learning environment that fosters a deeper understanding of human behavior and a creative approach to problem-solving—skills that are in high demand in marketing and business.  

"It is increasingly important to be able to understand global trends and be able to adapt strategies accordingly in the field of marketing,” explains professor Gonzalo Moreno, Ph.D., who has over 20 years of experience in the field and has been teaching business and marketing classes at SLU-Madrid for 15 years. “At SLU-Madrid, business and marketing students learn from diverse, international faculty, while surrounded by classmates from across the world. We believe that this approach encourages innovation and uniquely prepares students to work on multicultural teams and address global business trends."

Both the B.S. in Marketing and the B.S. in International Business at SLU-Madrid are offered through Saint Louis University’s Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business. The academic curriculum on SLU’s two campuses is completely integrated and students who begin either of these programs in Madrid are encouraged to spend a semester abroad at the St. Louis campus.
