Brett Jagger, M.D., specializes in general infectious disease, transplant infectious
diseases and infectious disease tele-medicine.He diagnoses, treats and manages infections
for hospitalized patients, through direct patient care as well as collaborating with
attending physicians. His goal is to listen to patients and provide them with the
most appropriate and effective medical care to help them lead their best, healthiest
lives.
Jagger's medical interests include respiratory viral infections, emerging infectious
diseases and HIV infection.
Research Interests
Jagger is interested in the translational and clinical development of vaccines against
viral respiratory pathogens. His lab is conducting pre-clinical investigations of
candidate influenza vaccines in order to address the key challenges in the field,
including:
- Improving breadth of protection against different influenza strains
- Optimizing vaccine responses among the elderly and immunocompromised
- Preparing for the next influenza pandemic
Jagger also leads respiratory virus vaccine clinical trials at the Center for Vaccine Development, and he is interested in controlled human infection studies at the SLU Extended Stay Research Unit.
