- Be known as a leader in research across key areas of excellence.
- Be known as a leader in academic medical care in the St. Louis region.
- Be known as a "best place to work" to attract top faculty and staff.
- Cultivate and promote core strengths in urban health, informed by our mission.
- Capitalize on our existing talent and our national and international reputation in research and clinical care.
- Promote a culture that embraces advances in technology and emphasizes communication.

- Conduct research on SOM brand and key audiences.
- Build an integrated brand vision for our clinical practice.
- Develop brand direction and usage guidelines for current branding of School of Medicine, SLUCare and SSM.
- Improve SOM web presence.
- Improve social media presence.
- Promote research as a key area of excellence.
- Improve print/digital outreach to alumni and donors.
- Develop messaging architecture to engage with key audiences.
- Employ communication strategist.
- Redesign Grand Rounds magazine.
