New for 2024, Master of Public Health Program Features Shorter Timeline to Completion, More Flexible Options
Beginning with the Fall 2024 term, Saint Louis University’s MPH Program will require just 42 credit hours to complete rather than the current requirement of 48 (or 54 for joint concentrations).
The reimagined 42-credit hour program will include a limited number of MPH concentrations, but students may add an optional certificate for just six additional credit hours. Thus, MPH students in the 42-credit hour programs may double-count six credit hours of their MPH electives toward any 12-credit hour certificate. This exciting new feature makes it possible to complete your MPH plus an otherwise 12-credit hour certificate for a total of just 48 credit hours. This means you can get the skills and expertise from two public health areas of study for what previously required 54 credit hours.

42-credit hour MPH concentrations for Fall 2024
This program explores why people behave the way they do in relation to their health and wellness. You will be trained to improve public health by developing, promoting, and researching community-wide initiatives to encourage healthy living practices to prevent disease and injury. This concentration is best for those who seek a career that involves applying epidemiological methods to the breadth of settings and situations in public health practice, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming and software, and interpreting results of data analysis for public health research, policy or practice.
With an MPH in Biostatistics, you would know how to collect and analyze health information to forecast scenarios and make important health, economic or policy recommendations. A joint concentration in biostatistics and epidemiology prepares you to interpret data, communicate findings, use data to describe the health of populations, and critically analyze the literature. Both are great preparation for one of the most highly sought-after, best-paid roles in the United States today.
This MPH in Epidemiology achieves two key goals. First, it trains students to master foundational areas of epidemiology methods and study designs. At the same time, it arms them with the analytical skills and hands-on know-how for further study or a wide range of careers, from hospitals and departments of health to the insurance industry and non-profit organizations.
This MPH program is a management core degree that features an additional emphasis on population health and health policy. It shares the same management core courses and internship process with MHA students. Whichever modules you choose, you’ll be ready for senior leadership roles in a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit organizations committed to improving health care delivery systems, access to healthcare services, and reducing risks to the public’s health.
Saint Louis University's public health practice concentration is designed to prepare experienced professionals — in medicine, dentistry, nursing and social work, among others — to assume leadership roles as members of multidisciplinary health care teams. New certificates for Fall 2024
Students who receive a certificate in behavioral science and health equity from Saint Louis University will learn skills enabling them to improve public health by developing, promoting and researching community-wide initiatives encouraging healthy living practices to prevent disease and injury.
Students who pursue Saint Louis University's post-baccalaureate certificate in biosecurity and infection prevention learn how to help prevent biological terrorism and build effective rapid-response capabilities for organizations throughout the public and private sectors.

Epidemiologists are "disease detectives." At Saint Louis University, students who complete their certificate in epidemiology will start learning the investigative skills necessary to understand how to control disease and injury patterns in populations.
SLU students will develop skills in mapping, analyzing data and using spatial data to answer some of public health’s most challenging problems. This certification is for graduate students from a variety of health and social science disciplines, working professionals seeking geospatial analysis skills and students taking a ‘gap year.’
