Lindbloom Named Chair of Family and Community Medicine

Erik Lindbloom, M.D., has stepped into his new role as chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, effective July 1, 2026.
Lindbloom has a distinguished career in evidence-based medicine, graduate medical education, clinical administration and the care of vulnerable older adults. He spent more than 28 years at the University of Missouri; most recently, he served as the associate director of the Family Medicine Residency Program; director of the Geriatric and Academic Family Medicine Fellowship Programs; and a professor of clinical family and community medicine.
Lindbloom earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at the University of California San Diego. He then went to the University of Missouri, where he completed a geriatric medicine fellowship, a national research service award fellowship and a master's degree in public health.
In addition to caring for patients at MU Health Care's University Hospital and the Compass Health Family Health Center, Lindbloom was a leader in community-based care and medical education. He was one of the founding faculty co-directors of the MedZou Community Health Clinic, a student-coordinated free clinic that provides care to uninsured patients.
