Yigit Akduman, M.D.
Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri
Undergraduate school: Saint Louis University
Medical school: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Akduman is a proud St. Louis native who has remained loyal to his hometown throughout college and medical school, completing both his degrees at Saint Louis University. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing a variety of sports (especially soccer), and traveling the world. He dabbles in weight-lifting, with a personal goal of benching 315 pounds. His clinical interests are still evolving, but he is currently interested in anterior segment surgery.

David Cha, M.D.
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Undergraduate school: Georgetown University
Medical school: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Cha grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been living in St. Louis since starting medical school. Outside of the hospital, he can be found running laps around Tower Grove Park or lifting weights (with a personal goal benching 315 pounds). He enjoys traveling to new countries and eating pizza. He has not yet decided a subspeciality but is interested in anterior segment surgery.

Nikhil Das, M.D.

Medical school: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Das is a St. Louis native. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Miami and a master's degree in applied health behavioral research from Washington University in St. Louis. He attended medical school at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and later completed a dedicated research year at Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute, where he contributed to several ophthalmology publications. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and pool, hiking, traveling, lifting weights (with a personal goal of benching 315 pounds), and spending quality time with friends and family. His current clinical focus is vitreoretinal surgery.

Osamah Mian, M.D.
Hometown: Norman, Oklahoma
Undergraduate school: University of Oklahoma
Medical school: University of Oklahoma School of Medicine
Mian is the son of immigrant parents and was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. He earned a degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Oklahoma, where he developed a passion for ophthalmology through his research in corneal engineering. Outside of medicine, Mian is a passionate football fan, dedicated weightlifter and active pilot. His life goals include seeing the Oklahoma Sooners win another national football championship, benching 315 pounds and piloting a flight across the Atlantic.

Mona Amer, M.D.
Hometown: Alexandria, Egypt
Undergrad: University of Louisville, Kentucky
Medical school: University of Louisville, Kentucky
Amer spent her childhood in Abu Dhabi and adolescence in Egypt before moving to Kentucky for the rest of her upbringing. Growing up on the Mediterranean coast, she loves the beach and water-related activities. She takes every opportunity to travel with friends and family. She is passionate about learning new languages and is always on the hunt for new music. She also enjoys trying new restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops. She is highly interested in vitreoretinal surgery, but she remains open-minded.

Asher Khan, M.D.
Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Undergrad: University of Oklahoma
Medical school: University of Oklahoma College of Medicine
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Khan is the son of immigrant parents. He has lived in the United Arab Emirates, California and Texas, but spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma. Khan first fell in love with ophthalmology through research and has been published in several journals, including JCRS and Biomolecules. Khan enjoys staying active at the gym and through long walks and hikes in the outdoors with his wife, Rachel, and their dog, Tall Guy. He and his wife also love trying new cuisines, thrifting, traveling, horseback rides and skiing. He finds much meaning in learning about other cultures and spending quality time with family. Khan is passionate about global health delivery to underrepresented populations. His specialty interests lie within anterior segment, cataract, and refractive surgery. He also remains open to exploring oculofacial plastic surgery.

David Le, M.D.
Hometown: Zachary, Louisiana
Undergrad: LSU Baton Rouge
Medical school: LSU New Orleans
Le is a native of Louisiana and the oldest son of a Vietnamese immigrant family. In his spare time, he enjoys distance running, strength training, video games, and experiencing four seasons for the first time. He has particular interests in retina and cornea but is open to exploring all that ophthalmology has to offer.

Kendall Sputo, M.D.
Hometown: Weston, Florida
Undergrad: Washington University in St. Louis
Medical school: Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Sputo spent 18 years growing up in sunny south Florida before moving to St. Louis for undergraduate studies in biology and psychological and brain sciences. She enjoyed the Midwestern charm and the experience of real fall and winter enough to stick around for medical school and residency! Her hobbies include exploring new restaurants around the city, walking/hiking scenic parks, and spending time with her wonderful fiancé and chatty calico cat. While she is undecided on subspecialty, she currently leans toward anterior segment surgery.

Duyen (Vivian) Dinh-Dang, M.D.
Hometown: Norwalk, California
Undergrad: University of California, Irvine - Biology
Medical school: Saint Louis University
Dinh-Dang is a California native who has been living in St. Louis since her move for medical school. A grandma at heart, she enjoys staying indoors and cooking with friends, going to antique shops, and crocheting with her mom. When the weather permits, she also likes to play tennis and go on outdoor runs. She has an interest in retina and glaucoma but is excited to explore all other subspecialties during residency.

John Lee, M.D.
Hometown: Los Angeles
Undergrad: University of California, San Diego
Medical school: Saint Louis University
Lee grew up in Southern California but has lived in St. Louis since moving to the Midwest for medical school. Outside of medicine, he can be found eating large quantities of fruit, spending time playing outdoor sports and board games and also exploring the restaurant scene throughout St. Louis and beyond.

Adam L. Lewis, D.O.
Hometown: Orem, Utah
Undergrad: Brigham Young University
Medical school: Kansas City University
Lewis was born in Utah and grew up enjoying all kinds of outdoor sports including snowboarding, snow skiing, hiking, biking and water skiing. He also enjoys basketball, tennis, and more recently, pickleball. Lewis loves spending time with his wife and kids and has enjoyed experiencing many of the family-friendly activities that St. Louis has to offer. He is interested in anterior segment surgery and retina, but is excited to explore all subspecialties of ophthalmology.

Michael Moussa, M.D.
Hometown: Detroit
Undergrad: Wayne State University
Medical school: Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
Moussa was born and raised in metro Detroit as the middle child of two Syrian immigrants. He is extroverted by nature and thoroughly enjoys hosting friends, traveling, and learning about other cultures. When not at work, he spends his time exercising or exploring new adventures with his wife. He also enjoys reading books and exchanging recommendations. Some of his current favorites include: The Alchemist, Man's Search For Meaning and When Breath Becomes Air. He remains open-minded and enthusiastic about exploring the various subspecialties of ophthalmology, not yet having settled on a particular area of focus.
