Pediatric Hospital Medicine Services

Pediatric Hospital Services at Saint Louis University School of Medicine provide general pediatric care for hospitalized children at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

General Pediatric Inpatient Unit

We provide general pediatric attending level coverage on multiple inpatient units this includes supervision of medical students, pediatric nurse practitioners and residents. Teaching is done both at the bedside, as well as in didactic sessions.

Pediatric Sedation Service

The Sedation service operates 5 days a week to perform moderate sedation for inpatients and outpatients. The hospitalist role in the sedation service is to oversee and provide procedural sedation for various special procedures as well as imaging services. Teaching is also provided to the pediatric residents and pediatric hospital medicine fellows, as sedation training is part of a required rotation.

  • Curriculum of the third-year Pediatric Clerkship
  • LCME Self-Study of the School of Medicine an important process to maintain the SOM’s accreditation
  • SLU SOM Curriculum Committee and Clinical Subcommittee
  • Pediatric Primary Specialty Advisor Program
  • Actively advising 20-30 fourth-year students/year as they prepare their ERAS applications and for interviews
  • Strong resource for students of all levels interest in Pediatrics or Pediatric combined programs
