Executive Master of International Business (EMIB)

Saint Louis University’s Executive Master of International Business is designed for managers who want to gain significant international operations experience, increase their salaries and continue their career growth with promotions or new positions.

About the Program

Offered by SLU’s Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, this 21-month international business master’s program provides an exemplary mix of curriculum, professional contacts and personal development experiences that will provide you with strengthened business knowledge, expertise in international business practices and enhanced competency in international cultural issues. A two-week study abroad session gives you the opportunity to get to know new cultures through guest speakers and visits to local business, government and cultural sites. You’ll progress through the program with a cohort group that will provide you with networking contacts for years to come.

The master of international business degree’s executive format program welcomes students who are mature professionals working in various industries, including manufacturing, research and development, finance, medicine, law and aviation.

Established in 1990, the Master of International Business program, executive format, delivers an international focus for today’s dynamic global business leaders with:

  • Two-week summer global immersion course required

Curriculum and Program Details

The 21-month international business master’s program combines on-campus and virtual classes. Classes are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every other Saturday. The program also includes a two-week study abroad session in the summer.

The courses you’ll take in the international master’s program will strengthen your business knowledge, help you acquire expertise in international business practices and enhance your competency in strategic planning.


Salaries and bonus packages of recent graduates increased by 18 percent from program start to program end, according to 3,212 students from 102 programs who participated in the Executive MBA Council’s 2012 Student Exit Benchmarking Survey. In addition, over 30 percent of students reported receiving promotions during their time in the program. The majority of our students receive promotions and new positions after graduating.

Students accepted into the Executive Master in International Business program may be eligible for federal student loans. To qualify,you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Saint Louis University’s Code is: #002506.

Applicant Criteria

To be accepted into Saint Louis University’s EMIB program at the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, you must meet the following requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • At least five years of professional experience or completion of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
  • Applicants with extensive professional experience may be evaluated on past professional accomplishments.
  • Availability to attend classes every-other Saturday.

While we encourage everyone with an interest to apply, students in SLU’s Master of International Business program often have the following traits in common:

  • Executive students are typically well-established in their careers and generally possess between five and 15 years of professional experience.
  • Executive students already possess core competencies and wish to add a global business expertise to their professional portfolio.
  • Students come from widely diverse backgrounds and represent a broad range of managerial and administrative levels as well as a wide variety of industries.
  • Many students already hold an advanced degree in medicine, law, aviation, engineering or management information systems.
