Library and Computer Use Guidelines for Pius XII Memorial Library

Pius XII Memorial Library reserves the right to remove anyone who does not adhere to these guidelines.

Library Access

  • All persons entering Pius Library are required to present a photo ID.
    • Current SLU students, faculty, and staff may use their SLU ID.
    • All others (''guests'') must show their driver's license, state ID card, school ID, passport, or other similar form of photo identification.
    • If necessary, current SLU students, faculty, or staff may be accompanied by their parent, spouse, or child.
  • Between 9:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., Pius Library is available only to current SLU students, faculty, and staff, who must swipe their SLU IDs to enter the building. Visitors who have entered the Library earlier in the day are expected to leave the building by 9:00 p.m.

Computer Access

  • Computer login is required for all users.
  • Current SLU students, faculty, and staff can log in using their SLU username and password.
  • Upon check-in at the Circulation or Information Desk, guests may request computer access for a period not exceeding 2 hours per day. If a computer is available, a library assistant will log the visitor in.
  • Guests must end their session if a current SLU student, faculty or staff member needs the computer.
  • Computer access by guests is unavailable one week prior to and during mid-term exams and two weeks prior to and during final exams.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian, who will share the computer with the child.
  • For locating books in Pius Library, catalog terminals are available for all library users on each level of Pius Library.
