Section of Adolescent Medicine

Saint Louis University School of Medicine's Section of Adolescent Medicine aims to improve the health of adolescents in the St. Louis region and educate providers about the health needs of teenagers. 

Promoting Health and Success for St. Louis Teens

Physicians in the Section of Adolescent Medicine specialize in treating teen health issues. They have a focus on:

  • High-risk behaviors
  • Outpatient gynecological evaluation and treatment
  • Chronic illness management
  • Multidisciplinary eating disorders treatment:
    • Medical refeeding (inpatient)
    • Nutrition, psychology and psychiatry (outpatient)

The section staffs seven outpatient clinics a week. There is daily availability for consultations and hospitalization.

The section prepares the next generation of healthcare providers through educational opportunities and community outreach.

  • Comprehensive Lectures: provided for residents and medical students as part of the pediatric training program
