The SSM Health/Saint Louis University School of Medicine Neurological Surgery Residency Program provides comprehensive training in the operative and non-operative management of both adult and pediatric patients with disorders of the nervous system.

Program Highlights

The seven-year, ACGME-accredited neurological surgery residency offers comprehensive training to develop operative skills and clinical expertise. Subspecialty training includes: vascular, endovascular, skull base, spinal, pediatric and functional neurosurgery; neurosurgical oncology; radiosurgery; neurosurgical trauma and critical care; and peripheral nerve surgery.  

Residents spend 54 months in clinical neurosurgery, one year rotating on elective services, and one year performing either basic science or clinical and outcomes-based research based on individual preferences and career goals.

The residency program has one position available per year. Interviews are mid-November through January. 

The program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
